I HAVE COME THAT YOU MAY HAVE LIFE, AND HAVE IT TO THE FULL: JOHN 10:10

Curriculum and Subjects

The LifeFull curriculum is designed to develop children’s character, intellect and curiosity.  We have high aspirations for our children and aim to offer them a broad, challenging, diverse and engaging curriculum.
Subject leaders work across the federation to share best practice and raise standards collaboratively. Our curriculum is underpinned by our key drivers which are:

    • Our Christian vision
    • The arts
    • Caring for the environment
    • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We plan a very broad, diverse curriculum which continually revisits key concepts.  We believe all children — regardless of background or starting point — deserve access to powerful knowledge.

Early Years

Our early years has love, faith and hope at its heart. We welcome and celebrate every child, helping all children to develop their character and a love of learning.  We are committed to inclusivity which encourages good relationships, mutual understanding and celebrates diversity. We believe that every child is intrinsically capable and we strive to foster warm, nurturing, trusting relationships so that they develop a strong sense of themselves, others and the world around them. We truly value the partnerships that we hold with parents and carers and know that these relationships are crucial to children’s development. Through positive interactions and stimulating learning experiences, children in our care build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience. See more about Early Years here.

Religious Education

Religion and beliefs inform our vision and values and are reflected in what we say and how we behave. Religious Education (RE) is an important subject in itself, developing an individual’s knowledge and understanding of the religions and beliefs which form part of contemporary society. Religious education provokes challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God, the self and the nature of reality, issues of right and wrong, and what it means to be human. (Department for Children, Schools and Families)

At LifeFull Schools,  Religious Education is a core subject viewed through the lens of theology, sociology and  philosophy which promotes:

  1. A knowledge of Christianity; its stories, traditions, festivals, worship and teachings;
  2. An awareness of life’s spiritual dimension;
  3. A sense of Christian morality; explored through our Christian vision;
  4. A knowledge and understanding of and respect for multiple faiths and belief systems.

Through the above, we aim to help children to:

  • develop an awareness of spiritual and moral issues in their own and other’s life experiences;
  • develop knowledge, understanding and respect for the range of religions and cultural differences found locally, nationally and internationally;
  • develop an understanding of what it means to be committed to a religious tradition;
  • develop investigative processes and research skills to enable them to make reasoned judgements about religious issues.

Proverbs 18:15.  An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Our schools use the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) syllabus to explore Christianity and other world faiths with curiosity, respect and academic rigour.

RE is taught weekly and integrated into wider school life through worship, reflection and celebration.

Health and wellbeing

Health and wellbeing

Many children and young people today are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives both on and offline. This means that they are presented with many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their personal, economic, social and academic lives in a positive way. We also recognise the particular challenges and disadvantages that many of our pupils face in the local community. For more about PE see here and for RSHE see here

RSHE is taught sensitively, in consultation with families and communities.

Relationships, Sex and Health Education is taught in a way that is age-appropriate, inclusive and aligned with our schools vision.

It is based around six core themes.

I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full' John 10:10

At LifeFull Schools, we believe that learning is about more than academic achievement.

At LifeFull Schools, we understand that providing pupils with enriching experiences enhances their learning and develops confidence, character and cultural capital.

We offer all our pupils as many enrichment opportunities as possible. These are carefully mapped to enhance learning in all curriculum subjects, beyond the national curriculum. As well as high quality teaching and learning at our schools, we aim that every pupil at our schools will be offered the chance to: play a musical instrument; visit museums, places of worship, art galleries & the theatre; attend a residential school journey; take part in after school clubs of their choice; perform in front of an audience; and enjoy OPAL outdoor play.

For our full beyond the curriculum offer see: LifeFull Schools Beyond the Curriculum Offer

Each school has their own charity that fundraises for some of these extra-curricular opportunities – more information can be found on our individual school websites.
